Christ in the Canyons had its origins in the mid-seventies up in the canyons near Boncarbo. We started as a home church, meeting in different homes. By the early eighties we gathered at Ed & Barb Richardson's home in Upper Burro Canyon. Christ in the Canyons Ministries was incorporated as a church in 1985. In 1987 we shifted our gatherings to the former Boardinghouse in Cokedale. Two years later CITCF purchased the Cokedale Schoolhouse. After extensive remodeling it became the "Sheepshed" for our flock. From our beginnings we have put more emphasis on people and relationships than on facilities and programs!

Christ in the Canyons Fellowship Church is located in Cokedale, CO, located a 15 minute beautiful drive west of Trinidad. Cokedale is on Hwy 12, the scenic Highway of Legends and is rich with the history of this area of Colorado. Cokedale began as a 100 man tent colony in 1899 grew to more than 1500 men who came from all over the world to mine coal in the surrounding canyon areas. The remnants of the coal operation, the coke ovens, were used to treat the mined coal, and still remain across Hwy 12 from where our church is located.
